Racing Equipment

Racing equipment is as varied as the drivers who use it. The open wheel racers need slicks, exposed suspensions, and minimalist car design. Their needs are completely different from those of NASCAR drivers, who work within tightly regulated frameworks to try and outperform the opponents. Both of them are a far cry from rally style racing, with conditions as difficult as the race coordinators can find.

The fact is that if you want racing equipment, it will not come cheaply. Whether you want to install a new fuel injection system for your car, you want to upgrade your suspension, or you are looking at an engine rebuild; equipment capable to standing up to the rigors of a race is high grade, and you should expect to pay for the quality. The alternative is betting the safety of yourself and other racers on parts of dubious quality; and that’s not a risk any driver should feel comfortable taking.

If you want to find some top quality racing equipment, the first stop should be your local auto parts store. The employees there won’t all own race cars, but they’ll have the best working knowledge and comparative experience around. Whether it’s tires, wheels, steering, exhaust, or aerodynamics, an auto parts store employee can better explain to you the difference between a $350 part and a $400 part much better than a racer who has his team sponsored by major corporations and never has to think about footing the bill for his car.
